“Harriet Tubman” Heads to Piccolo, Stops in Beaufort

Natalie’s Daise’s original play, “Becoming Harriet Tubman” has been selected by the Piccolo Spoleto Festival of Charleston to run during the internationally-recognized festival. But first, she is giving one night to her home town, Saturday, May 19 at 7:30pm. Natalie will perform her show at ARTworks, in Beaufort Town Center, where she thrilled audiences with it last year. Tickets are $17 per person, $12 for students (13+), $7 for children (12 and under) and $12 for groups of 10 or more, available online at www.artworksinbeaufort.org and 379-2787.

Advanced Acting Workshops

Actress Simone Griffeth will teach two intensive Advanced Acting Class Workshops for USCB Center for the Arts in April and May. The class will focus on acting techniques using scenes and monologues from plays. Students will learn about creating believable characters, identifying and generating emotions, accessing their own experiences to strengthen characters, improvisation, and developing character stories. Final performance will be taped and actors will have copy formatted for electronic submissions for casting purposes.

Run for the Tea

The MCAS Beaufort Officers’ Club is proud to host its 2nd Annual “Run for the Tea” 5K and Kids’ Races on Saturday, May 19, 2012. The 5K run will start and finish at Shady Point Park aboard MCAS Beaufort with the 5K race beginning at 8 am and the Kids’ Races beginning at 9 am.

Kayakfest, a festival of free sea kayaking clinics, tours, and demonstrations will be held Saturday April 28th. The festival will be held on Broad Creek at the Old Oyster Factory Restaurant, on Marshland Road, Hilton Head. The Kayakfest will be from 11 AM to 2 PM.
