Thinking of playing a round of golf over the Veteran’s Day holiday? While you are taking a few swings on the practice range, one very special young man will be golfing nonstop from pre-sunup until sundown in the name of veteran’s charities.

The Junior Service League of Beaufort (JSLB) will host its inaugural Touch A Truck fundraiser on Saturday, November 5th, 2016 in Downtown Port Royal from 11 am to 4 pm on Paris Avenue. Cost of admission is $5 per person.   

The Beaufort Arts Council/Mather Academy (www.beaufortartscouncil.org or www.matheracademy.org ), will be hosting a Beaux Arts Ball on November 12, 2016 from 7pm-11pm at the Beaufort Inn’s Tabby Place. In the wake of the announcement of the King Street Arts Center, the Beaufort Arts Council’s Beaux Arts Ball is a fundraising event that will contribute significantly to furthering art education opportunities in the new KSAC!

I’m sure we all saw it; many of us thought it was something on exhibit, a sculpture of a desktop. Upon further inspection, it was clearly Pat Conroy’s desktop. It had a solid, enduring look, as if fashioned from wax.
