USCB Center for the Arts Postpones Events, Post-Matthew

USCB Center for the Arts is appreciative of the recovery efforts following Hurricane Matthew. “We are rescheduling events for a later time when residents are ready to celebrate the recovery and resilience of our community,” says Bonnie Hargrove, director of the Center for the Arts. “A Tribute to Etta James,” starring Marlena Smalls, has been rescheduled, along with some Met Opera Live in HD performances and the CFA fundraiser “An Affair with the Arts.” Tickets for all events are for sale online at www.uscbcenterforthearts.com or through the box-office 843-521-4145.

Pat Conroy Literary Center Taps Jonathan Haupt as Founding Director

Hundreds of Pat Conroy fans, friends, and family members gathered in Beaufort, SC on Saturday night, October 22 for the closing ceremony of the inaugural Pat Conroy Literary Festival. The program, which took place in the auditorium of the University of South Carolina Beaufort’s Center for the Arts, was intended to share information about the new nonprofit Pat Conroy Literary Center, formed last April as a living legacy to the beloved writer Pat Conroy (The Great Santini, The Prince of Tides, Beach Music, A Lowcountry Heart, and others), who died of pancreatic cancer on March 4, 2016.
