Fishing trip with LDW3 Healing Hero to be featured on national television

Fishing-coverSome of Beaufort’s natural beauty and some of its best fishing areas will be showcased on national television later this month.

A segment of the award-winning television program, O’Neill Outside, shot in Beaufort County during Fishing-SkyLt. Dan Weekend 3 last September, will air the week of Monday, January 28 on Sun Sports, NBC Sports and Sports South. Internationally-known fisherman O’Neill Williams went sight casting on the Broad River with Sgt. Major Jesse Acosta, US Army, (Ret.), who lost his vision during the war in Iraq. A preview of the show aired on January 12th, and the complete program is scheduled for broadcast on Saturday, February 2 at 8 a.m. It will be posted online at www.oneilloutside.com after that broadcast.

Acosta was visiting Beaufort as a guest of LDW3. David Cargile, Fishing Coordinator for LDW3, said the fishing trip was a meaningful experience for all concerned. “Sgt. Major Acosta is one of our ‘healing heroes’ and we are so pleased our volunteers could arrange this opportunity for him. He had a ball and so did O’Neill who was so gracious to participate in our local effort.”

Williams calls this 30-minute program his favorite for 2012. Lowcountry Weekly went along for the ride, and it was an experience we’ll never forget. To see our video footage of the fishing trip, visit our website at www.lcweekly.com
