walk Crowd walkingJoin hundreds of people for the third annual Beaufort Walk for Water on September 21, 2019 to help bring safe water for life to thousands of men, women and children across the world. This year’s ambitious fundraising goal is $50,000 – almost doubling the amount raised in the first two years combined.

The Beaufort Walk for Water promotes awareness of the global water crisis while raising funds to provide sustainable safe water around the world. All donations benefit Water Mission, a nonprofit Christian engineering organization that builds safe water solutions in developing countries and disaster areas. The 2019 event registration page is now open, with capabilities for joining a team, starting a team, and making a donation: events.watermissions.org/Beaufort19.

During the approximately three-mile walk, participants are encouraged to carry a bucket of water to symbolize the burden that millions of women and children in developing countries bear every day as they collect water for their family’s daily needs. In most cases, the water they collect is contaminated. Every 37 seconds one person dies from water-related illnesses.

“Imagine that as little as $25 in the hands of Water Mission could provide one person safe waterWalk volunteers for life, a donation of $500 could provide a latrine for sanitation in a community, and solar panels for an average sized project are less than $1100,” said Robert Lasher, chairman of the planning committee. “With $56,000 raised in our first two years combined, we set the bar quite a bit higher this year, knowing that every dollar raised helps Water Mission’s important work to end the global water crisis.”
