BAA Hosts 55th Annual Spring Show & Sale

Beaufort Art Association’s 55th Annual Spring Show will take place from Friday, February 26 through Monday, February 29 at a brand new venue this year – Tabby Place in Downtown Beaufort on Port Republic Street. Local artists will present their finest works for exhibit and for sale during the show. Oils, acrylics, watercolor, photography, mixed media, pottery, woodturning, stained glass and much more. Fine art jewelry has been added this year. Admission is free. Public is invited.

BSO Presents ‘Romantic Virtuosi’

  The legendary Niccolo Paganini was the most celebrated violin virtuoso of the late 18th and early 19th century and his Violin Concerto No. 1 in D Major is the ultimate tour de force for a soloist. World-class Hungarian violinist Tamas Kocsis will perform Paganini’s work with the Beaufort Symphony Orchestra in concert on Feb. 25 and 28.

By Margaret Evans, EditorOur little film festival is growing up so fast, y’all.             I remember when it was just a gleam in (executive director) Ron Tucker’s eye. Sniff, sniff. . . Where’s my hankie?             Seriously, I get emotional on this subject. Truth is, the Beaufort International Film Festival’s not so little anymore. It’s not so young, either. Our boy BIFF turns ten this week, and as Ron always says – and it’s never a lie – “this year will be bigger and better than ever.” The first festival a decade ago drew about 500 people to screenings over three days. This year, they’re expecting 10,000.
