Back by popular demand, The Columbia City Ballet from Columbia, SC will be bringing their first class production of The Nutcracker to the Performing Arts Center at University of South Carolina Beaufort for the fourth year in a row on Monday and Tuesday, December 10 and 11 at 7 pm.
The Nutcracker is a holiday family tradition!
“It is always so beautiful and every year it becomes bigger and better than the year before!  They are putting 30 local children in the production.” remarked, Executive Director, Dee Dee Sandt. “I’m excited to see this year’s production!”
Tchaikovsky’s lovely score, with its dreamy waltzes and spirited mazurkas, brings to life the magical tale of Clara and her nutcracker and all the wonderful and colorful characters that visit her dreams spring to life.
The Company, consisting of 42 professional dancers, will also utilize the talents of local children, ages 3 to 16. “I have to remember the children when I am working on this production – their innocent excitement of being a mouse or a party girl for the first time,” said Starrett. “I try to use that energy to bring freshness when I work with the professionals. It really brings me into the holiday spirit.”
