The Society of Bluffton Artists (SoBA) will be presenting “The Sky’s the Limit,” Oils and Watercolors by Carol Snyder, from October 5 through November 14.

Artist Snyder is an exceptionally skilled watercolor artist and oil painter who has focused on unusual sky treatments for each of the works exhibited.   Carol believes the sky is always mystical and holds a bounty of unusual colors that she strives to capture in her work.  Lowcountry marshes and beaches dominate the show.  “The quick changes of the clouds and atmosphere influence the free style in which I like to paint – spontaneous and expressive,” says Carol.

In addition to nature’s subjects – flowers, seas, skies and marshes – Carol also specializes in commissions that include houses, pets, and paintings (from a photo) of the bride’s bouquet.

Carol studied art in New York and Connecticut and attended Connecticut State College and The Art Academy in Danbury studying with Claude Croney, Frank Webb, and Barbara Nechis. Her move to Hilton Head in 2002 and her association with the Hilton Head Art Academy has furthered her involvement in art.   She is a member of the Art League of Hilton Head, The Society of Bluffton Artists, The Hilton Head Plantation Artists Association and the Low Country Plein Air Society.  She has received numerous awards – most recently from Charles Reid.  Her work is in collections throughout the United States and internationally.

The public is invited to a reception for the artist on Sunday October 11,  3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Gallery where refreshments will be served.  The gallery is located on Boundary Street in old Bluffton and is open Mon. through Sat. from 10-5.  Call 843-757-6586 or visit the SoBA web site at www.sobagalleries.com for more information about the organization and participating artists.
