Beaufort Art Association will ring in the season with their 48th Annual Spring Show. The Beaufort Art Association announces its 48th Annual Spring Show and Exhibit, opening Friday, March 27 and continuing through Sunday, April 6, at the Charles "Lind" Brown Center at the corner of Greene and Hamar Streets, in downtown Beaufort.  Exhibit hours are 11 am to 6 pm weekdays, and 12 noon to 4 pm on Sundays.  One of Beaufort's favorite spring events, the show is open to all area artists.  Guest show judge Linda Kemp will select this year’s winners, who will be vying for over $2000 in awards.
          From Ontario, Canada, Linda Kemp is internationally recognized for her unique contemporary watercolors and innovative use of negative painting.  Kemp is an elected member of the Canadian Society of Painters, the Ontario Society of Artists, and the Society of Canadian Artists.  She is the author of Watercolor Painting Outside the Lines – A Positive Approach to Negative Painting.  Her articles and paintings have been featured in numerous   art publications, and she gives lectures and offers instruction in workshops held all across Canada and the United States.
          Linda shares her philosophy:  "There is nothing like an intriguing puzzle to get the brain working and few things more satisfying than finding a solution to a perplexing problem.  I can't resist sorting through and arranging shapes and colors, in particular the interwoven forms and layers of patterns I find while investigating tangled woodlands, meandering streams, open fields, roadside ditches and marshes.  Appreciating my discoveries is easy; figuring out how to interpret my finds and then portray that essence two dimensionally with paint on paper is the real challenge!  It is this desire to decipher, understand and organize what I see that motivates me to paint."  {mosimage}
