The Photography Club of Beaufort has announced the winners of the semi-annual Spring Competition,

held Monday night, March 10th. Judging the event were Beaufort Gazette photographer F. Brian Ferguson;  Ben Ham, nationally acclaimed large-format landscape photographer and Eric Horan, well-known outstanding nature photographer. Prints were judged using the criteria of superb technical quality, composition and interest.  During the competition, judges shared their expertise and offered constructive critiques to photos to help the photographers improve their skills.

Results of the competition are as follows:
Beginner Category:  1st place: new member Bill Westberg – “Tea Vendor”.  2nd Place, Phyllis Seas – “What-er you see is what you get” . Honorable Mention, Beginner Category: Carolynn Bennett –  “Ravenel Bridge”

 

In the Intermediate Category 1st Place was awarded to Gerney Doetsch – “Tile Cutter” There was a three way tie for 2nd Place:  Pat Keown for “Thank You.”; Karen Harvey for “Drops of Chapel of Ease” and Suzanne Wolf’s “Emily’s 2007” .  Honorable Mention to Ed Kawczynski  for “Last Picture Show”

 

1st Place in the Advanced Category was won by Chris Kirk for “Sapalo Island Lighthouse Stairwell”. There was a three way tie for 2nd Place in the Advanced Category: Lamar Nix for “Anticipation of a Voyage”; John Wollworth for “Summer in Charleston” and Paul Nurnberg for “Autumn”.

The Photography Club of Beaufort meets at 7pm on the Second Monday of every month in Building 22 of the Technical College of the Lowcountry. It was founded 3 years ago to promote photography as an art in Northern Beaufort County.
