Kick the holiday season off right at the official island Christmas Tree Lighting at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina.
Deck the halls and trim the tree at this old-fashioned Yuletide celebration, complete with Christmas carols, holiday crafts, yummy treats and photos with Santa Claus.
The fun starts at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 28 with the PEP group ringing in the holiday bells, followed by a parade and the arrival of Santa. Entertainment will include a performance by the Hilton Head IB Elementary Singing Sea Otters and the cast of “My Fair Lady.” The tree will be lit at 5:25 p.m.
“This is one of our favorite events at the Arts Center, because it really is about the community,” said Kathleen Bateson, president and CEO of the Arts Center. “We’re proud to host the island’s official tree lighting ceremony and to help spread the holiday cheer!”
For the kids, there will be face painting and holiday arts and crafts, including a make-it-yourself reindeer puppet. In addition, kids and adults can make Deep Well Bell Ornaments for the community tree, and there will be Deep Well donation boxes to collect canned goods and toys for needy kids.
The Arts Center is located at 14 Shelter Cove Lane. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs. For details, visit www.artshhi.com.
