concert-choirThe Baptist Church of Beaufort will welcome the Concert Choir of North Greenville University for a free concert on  Sunday, March 27 at 7:30 pm.

 

In recent years the choir has participated in the South Carolina Upstate Intercollegiate Choral Invitational Festival, the South Carolina Music Educators state convention, the South Carolina Baptist Convention state convention, and a performance at the National Cathedral in Washington D.C.  The choir is directed by Dr. Barry L. Combs, who is in his thirteenth year as Director of Choral Activities and Church Music at North Greenville University.  Dr. Combs is active in the American Choral Directors Association, the Hymn Society of the United States and Canada, the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers, the Southern Baptist Church Music Conference, and a member of the Singing Churchmen of South Carolina. He has adjudicated high school and church choral festivals and served as a clinician for music workshops in Kentucky, Illinois, Tennessee, and South Carolina.  Dr. Combs serves as the Minister of Music at Augusta Road Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina.

 

North Greenville University is located in Tigerville, SC, just north of Greenville, SC.  The University is affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention.  There are 2100 students enrolled in the University, including the undergraduate and graduate programs.  The Cline School of Music is located in the Hayes Fine Arts Center, and is affiliated with the National Association of Schools of Music, and is an “All Steinway” institution.
