Angela Small Blalock to Sing on Fripp

Angela Small Blalock will be the featured guest of Fripp Island Friends of Music on Sunday, February 10 at 5 pm at the Fripp Island Community Center.
    Soprano Blalock is the graduate of Savannah State University and Ohio State University. And artist whose training and performance experience has been almost entirely American, she is former Associate Artist of the Columbus Opera Co, the Columbus Light Opera, and the Columbus Ensemble Singers. She has sun throughout the United States to great acclaim. In addition, Blalock has studied in Graz, Austria with the American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS), and performed as a soloist in that country as well as Italy and Germany. She has enjoyed solo appearances with the South Carolina Philharmonic, the Savannah Symphony Chamber Orchestra, the Aiken Symphony Orchestra and the USC Symphony Orchestra. In 2006, Blalock was the featured artist for the International Music Festival held in Kingston, Jamaica in June 2006. She currently serves on the faculty at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg.
    The concert will begin at 5 pm at the Fripp Island Community Center. A wine and cheese reception with the artist will follow. Tickets are available at the door for $20, $10 for students. For more information, call 838-4666.
