To all our nation’s veterans, the Lowcountry Wind Symphony thanks you and celebrates you – past, present and always.
As a country, we celebrated our 250th birthday this year! We marked this historic milestone for our nation with fireworks, concerts, and special exhibits. And this November 11th we continue that celebration commemorating the incredible people who fought throughout those 250 years for our nation’s freedom with Veteran’s Day.
The Lowcountry has an incredibly rich military history. Port Royal witnessed the training of the first African American soldiers to wear the Army Union uniform. Today Parris Island trains our phenomenal Marines. As most branches of our military celebrated their 250th birthdays in 2025 and 2026, the Lowcountry Wind Symphony (LWS) honors the men and women that fill the ranks of those military branches.
LWS invites the public to their FREE concerts for their 11th annual Veteran’s Concerts honoring America’s finest heroes. Experience music that blends patriotism and tradition. The program features Purple Heart composed by David Shaffer, Band of Brothers composed by Michael Kamen, and patriotic classics including Chester, Nimrod, and marches by Karl L. King and Edwin Franko Goldman and more! Together, we will explore “What is Musically Possible!”
LWS is a non-profit wind symphony, made up of some 70 amateur and professional volunteer brass, woodwind, and percussion players from the greater Beaufort and Bluffton area.
