Lori Wilson will present “Seduced by the Light,” a collection of fine watercolors and photography in contemporary realism, from October 1-November 4 at the Society of Bluffton Artists gallery in Old Town. An opening reception is scheduled from 3-5 p.m. October 7 at the gallery. These events are free and open to the public.
Wilson gravitates toward watercolor painting because of the luminosity and transparency that enables her to bring a story to life through the use of the white of the paper, as well as the saturation of color, shape and value. She uses multiple glazes to produce rich darks that exude a strong sense of energy and drama using the natural play of light to entertain the viewer.
“I delight in walking down the roads less travelled in search of that special ‘something’ that captivates my attention and compels me to paint it,” Wilson said, adding, “I don’t necessarily want to become famous with my art; I merely want to recharge your soul with it!”
Wilson’s art has won numerous awards over the years. She continues to exhibit in local galleries, restaurants and businesses. Her work is part of permanent and private collections throughout the United States and Africa. Additionally, Wilson has served as a juror and mentor. She currently teaches adult watercolor classes in Bluffton and Hilton Head Island.
