Nagel-Joyce-BuranoWalkAn exhibition of the art of longtime Hilton Head Island residents Joyce and Don Nagel has just opened at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute’s Hilton Head Island classroom at the Pineland Station Shopping center at 430 William Hilton Parkway, Suite 304A. Entitled Here and There, the exhibit is free and open to the public and will continue through December 6, 2013.

 

Known locally for their Lowcountry images, this exhibit will feature the Nagel’s impressions from their travels. The Nagels have been leading Hilton Head artists for over 30 years.

Joyce Nagel’s work has been represented in numerous exhibitions throughout the southeast United States. In 2004 her entry to the Hilton Head Art League’s National Juried Show won Best of Show and in 1988 and 2011 her entries to the Southeastern Pastel Society exhibitions won Best of Show. Her work is represented locally in the May River Gallery, Bluffton, and the Hilton Head Art League Gallery where she is an art instructor for the Art Academy of the Hilton Head Art League. She received her MA in printmaking from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan.

Nagel-Don-MorningGlowDon Nagel’s work has been represented in numerous major art exhibitions. These include the Hilton Head Art League National Juried Show and exhibitions organized by the Pastel Society of America in which he won a Purchase Award. His work has been included in exhibitions of the Degas Pastel Society and the Southeastern Pastel Society. He has been an art instructor and juror both locally and nationally. Don received an MA in printmaking from Wayne State University.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute of the University of South Carolina Beaufort provides not-for-credit, educational opportunities and experiences for adults at four Lowcountry locations including Bluffton, Beaufort, Hilton Head Island and Jasper County.
