Beaufort Art Association’s 55th Annual Spring Show will take place from Friday, February 26 through Monday, February 29 at a brand new venue this year – Tabby Place in Downtown Beaufort on Port Republic Street. Local artists will present their finest works for exhibit and for sale during the show. Oils, acrylics, watercolor, photography, mixed media, pottery, woodturning, stained glass and much more. Fine art jewelry has been added this year. Admission is free. Public is invited.
This year, judging the 200 entries will be Linda Daly Baker, an award winner watercolor artist from Charleston. Linda Baker takes her responsibility as a juror very seriously. When questioned about her role, Ms. Baker responded: “It is important to select work that showcases good composition, design, use of color, and with an accomplished skill level . . . I look for a personal vision and I applaud the artist that gives us an interesting and unexpected viewpoint.”
“Capturing the extraordinary light that transforms a subject almost to abstraction is a main objective in creating my watercolors. My love of white and the soft nuances of gray along with the richness of earth tones make up my subtle palette’” says artist Linda Baker. As a full time artist, she creates originals, reproduces a line of giclees and has two instructional videos available through Creative Catalyst Productions, along with jurying and teaching workshops both nationally and internationally.
Her paintings appear in the Splash series along with the Artistic Touch and the Masters of Watercolor Artists by Konstantin Sherkov. She has been featured in American Artist, The Artist Magazine, L’Aquarelle including the American version and The Watercolor Magazine. Linda’s awards include the Adirondacks, Fallbrook Signature Exhibition, along with the National Watercolor Society and the American Watercolor Society. Her work was featured in the Shanghai Biennial, Shenzhen 2013,and will be included in the Shenzhen Biennial this year in China.
She currently resides in South Carolina with her kitty, ‘Miss Marbles.’ More of her art can be seen at www.LindaDalyBaker.com
