Nancy Mitchell, event chair and artist says, “Vickie Jourdan is one of the most talented and influential artists of the Art League of Hilton Head. She is an inspiration to us all and we are excited she is going to be our Honored Artist this year. Her painting, humorously called “Victoria’s Secret Garden II, will grab your attention. The show will be more spectacular than ever and there are new features this year that will surprise and delight your. Please come and see for yourself!“

Each artist is paired with a flower arranger, who will interpret the spirit and emotional content of the painting in a bouquet or arrangement. Some artists also create their own flower arrangements.

Vickie Jourdan, a sought after abstract painter, explains, “People often ask me if I have something specific in mind when I start an abstract painting.  Actually everything that is going on at the time plays a role in creating my painting. I think about pushing the paint around, playing with textures, experimenting with mediums, exploring interesting color combinations, and working up new compositions. Then, all of a sudden this extra special feeling comes over me and I know, then the painting is finished.”  Vickie’s flower arranger will be Caroll Williams, also known for her found-object assemblages.

The exhibiting artists include Pam Bredin, Joanna Chalson, Hal Cherry, Cindy Chiappetta, Jean-Marie Coté, Richard Coyne, Dave Dickson, Marilyn & Dean Dizikes,  Mary Ann Hart, April Hobus, Jeanie Hooper, Sherry Kahle, Mary Kelly, Juliana Kim, Rosemary Hurkamp Meidenbauer, Nancy Mitchell, Linda Nickles, Bobsy Simes, Barbara Spencer, Bing-ie Tan, Marci Tressel,  Donna Varner, Arla Crumlick Wible, and Cyndee Wood.   The participating flower arrangers are Debbie Dickson, Millie Dillard, Laurie Flanagan, Nancy Heird, Peggy Herbert, Ellie Linscott, Donna Gibson-Lynch, Pat Marks, Anita Miller, Sigi Rutherford, Sheila Summers, Erna Topolenski,  Hila Walker, Jean Wible, and Nancy Wittke.  Come and see the surprising creativity!
