This September, Art League Gallery will host Island Treasures, an exhibit of original paintings by Hilton Head native Addison Palmer. Palmer’s award-winning work focuses mainly on landscapes and animals—both wild and domestic—and largely features the beauty of the Lowcountry. His style ranges from clean-lined depictions in bold colors to serene landscapes and skyscapes using a minimal color palette.
“Island Treasures speaks for itself. Growing up on Hilton Head Island, I was fortunate to both see and feel the ‘treasures’ of the island and the surrounding areas. Since the age of thirteen, I have captured the beauty of Hilton Head with my original paintings. Today, my paintings are in homes and businesses around the world. People are able to enjoy the beauty of Hilton Head every day through my paintings, even though they might live far away,” says Palmer.
In addition to painting, Palmer teaches painting classes, sometimes aboard cruise ships (the first fine artist to do so). He was honored to take part in the international “Birds in Art” show in 2018, one of only 90 artists around the world to take part. He now splits his time between his two studios on St. Simons Island, GA and Winston Salem, NC.
Island Treasures will be on exhibit August 27- September 21, 2019. An artist reception will be held Wednesday, September 4, 5-7pm.
Art League Gallery is located mid-island inside Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, 14 Shelter Cove Lane, Hilton Head Island, 843-681-5060.
