The Society of Bluffton Artists presents “Speaking Figuratively,” a collection of figure paintings by two accomplished artists, Mary B. Kelly and Marilyn Dizikes. This compelling show will be open from October 8 through November 17.
Mary B. Kelly is a noted art professor and author who taught painting for 25 years in NY before retiring to Hilton Head and becoming deeply involved in the art community here – painting, teaching art and writing. She is a member of The Apple Pie Painters and has exhibited with them as well as in many one-artist shows locally and internationally.
Award-winning artist Marilyn Dizikes is primarily an abstract painter but freely moves between Abstraction to Realism. Her themes are color and light, taking inspiration from nature, the spiritual, and exploration of media. Her first drawing class was life drawing and the figure has always interested her. Marilyn has been an art educator in the public schools for over 20 years in Virginia and on Hilton Head.
Mary and Marilyn’s collection of dynamic pastel and acrylic figure paintings in this show are not to be missed! The public is invited to a reception for the artists from 3 – 5 pm, Sunday October 14 at the SOBA Gallery where refreshments will be served. The gallery is located at the corner of Church and Calhoun Streets in Old Town Bluffton. Call 757-6586 or visit sobagallery.com for more information.
