Beaufort South Carolina local, graphic designer and visual artist Louise Hall, is forging a new path for herself using her creative talents. Her love of the Lowcountry and its marine life is being represented in her new art form, which is made entirely from construction waste.
As a sculpture major in college, Louise has always enjoyed working with her hands so this method of working with different metals and mediums comes naturally to her… and she’s not afraid to do a little dumpster diving. Everything (with the exception of the paint) from the board she uses as canvas, to the copper flashing and old screens, was found in a dumpster, at a construction site, or at a demo site.
“I love the idea of turning unwanted trash into something beautiful,” says Hall, “and using Lowcountry wildlife life as subject matter seemed only natural.”
Louise is best known for her branding work, and life sized pet portraits. Some of her work around town includes logo design for Saltus River Grill, Wren Bistro and Bar, Higher Ground, and CAPA Child Abuse Prevention Association, among several others. “I love what I do, and feel truly blessed that I am able to pursue a new path while still enjoying the challenge of creating identities
for new and existing businesses alike, says Hall… “ I am really excited to see where these new works take me… I think the concept is very relevant to society today. Most everyone is interested in recycling/upcycling whenever possible. This is a great way to promote that.”
Louise’s work is on display currently at the Art of Beaufort Gallery located at 719 Bay Street. “I love this gallery because it showcases only Beaufort Artists… there is so much talent in our lovely little city. I feel blessed to be a part of the culture here” says Hall. For more information, please contact Louise at louise@colemancreativedesign.comor visit www.colemancreativedesign.com
