A new free exhibit, “Bay Street During the Union Occupation (1861-1865),” will open in the ground floor of the Verdier House at 801 Bay Street January 24. Displaying photographs taken during the Civil War, the exhibit allows visitors to walk block by block on 1860s Bay Street, between Charles and Carteret streets, experiencing 19th century sights.

Tombee Plantation on St. Helena Island will be the site of Historic Beaufort Foundation’s eighth annual oyster roast and membership campaign February 1st. The grounds of the ca. 1810 plantation and the plantation house, currently under restoration, will be open to ticket holders. Tickets will not be sold at the door.

Chamber Music Hilton Head continues its 10th season with music for clarinet, piano and strings. Russell Floyd, Asako Kremer, and Jean Shamo open with a performance of Aram Khachaturian’s lissome Trio for Clarinet, Violin & Piano. The concert concludes with Schubert’s monumental “Death and the Maiden,” String Quartet, played by Melissa Barrett and Tristan Lehnert, violinists, Yvonne Johnson, violist, and Angela Maleh, cellist.

The Hilton Head Choral Society will present the King Singers, one of the world’s most sought-after vocal ensembles, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at Holy Family Catholic Church. 24 Pope Ave. Founded in 1968 by six choral scholars from King’s College in Cambridge, England, this remarkable group gained international notoriety, performing in concert halls and cathedrals in Europe, Russia, Japan, Korea, South Africa and the Untied States.
