You probably just read that title and asked, “What the what?” It’s okay, I’m not sure either so just bear with me for a bit. I know there’s nothing new about transmutation, but it’s a fairly new concept for me. Transmutation is defined as the action of changing or the state of being changed into another form.

            As I write this article, we’ve got another full moon coming at us this week. For some of you, that screams, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, “May I ass you some questions?” Hilarious movie, I know, but for a few of us it’s not fun and games. Crazy poop goes down during the full moon and sometimes the new moon.

We all know about hero worship, be it a mentor, parent, athlete, celebrity, or what have you. Do these heroes and heroines deserve a place in our lives? Of course they do, so long as the mantel you place these heroes on isn’t so high it’s humanly impossible to reach them. Mantels have their dangers, but that’s not what I’m here to write about today.

Some people call it fall, but I call it football season as the golf season wanes into the Fed Ex Cup playoffs followed by the Ryder Cup. How does this fit into mindfulness and the alternative perspectives this column is known for, you may ask? There’s a time and a season for everything and everybody, isn’t there? Besides, the point of meditation or mindfulness is to find you in the everyday.

The following article was adapted homework from a session a colleague conducted on me about two years ago. It’s beneficial personally and my duty as an energy worker to keep growing and working on myself. I always try to follow the biblical adage of “removing the beam from my own eye before attempting to remove it from my brother’s eye.” The modern day equivalent is “place the oxygen mask on your face first before helping others.” To do otherwise is reckless.

Author’s Note: The article below may come off as choppy. I intentionally left it this way as a comment about my state of mind lately. Some people are enigmatic for pretentiousness’ sake while others are enigmatic because they know no other way to be. I’d like to think I fall under the latter category while steering clear of the former. Unless you’re an egomaniac, it’s a fine line, so let’s discuss.
