Beaufort Performing Arts announces 2009/2010 Season…
Cherryholmes will kick off Beaufort Performing Arts’ exciting new season on Saturday, September 26 at 7:30 PM.   
    Cherryholmes,  considered America’s first family of bluegrass, has a sound made up of hard-driving instrumental virtuosity and explosive vocal harmonies. They performed before a sold out audience at the  USCB Performing Arts Center in 2008.   
    On Sunday, October 11, at 3:00 and 7:30 PM War Bonds: The Songs and Letters of World War II, will take audience members on a sentimental journey with the Greatest Generation. You will hear such favorites as “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” “As time Goes By,” and “Rosie the Riveter.”
     November will be a busy month for Beaufort Performing Arts with the opening of the Beaufort Theatre Company’s “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat.”  The Beaufort Theatre Company is a performing arts organization whose mission is to provide amateurs and professional actors an opportunity to share their talents and love for the stage with the greater Beaufort Community.
     “The Hallelujah Singers Gullah Christmas” performances on Saturday, November 28 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, November 29 at 3 PM will kick off the holiday season, followed by the holiday classic “Nutcracker” performed by Columbia City Ballet on Monday December 14,7 PM.
BPA opens 2010 with humor and advice from Southern Fried Chick’s Dr. Etta: the Family Specialist on Saturday, January 23 at 7:30 PM.   The Aquila Theatre will perform one of Shakespeare’s greatest comedies on Saturday, January 30 at 7:30 PM.  Mexico’s national dance company “Ballet Folklorico de Mexico” takes the stage on Thursday, February 18, at 7 PM.  ABBA MANIA will perform 21 of ABBA’s hit on Monday, March 3 at 7:30 PM.  Canada’s most prominent violinist Angele Dubeau and La Pieta  an all female string ensemble, performance on March 19 at 7:30 continues BPA tradition of presenting world class international and national touring artist.  Join the 3 Redneck Tenors on a musical journey that begins in Paris, Texas not France and end at the famous Carnegie Hall on Friday April 16 at 7:30 PM.
Beaufort Theatre Company will finish their first season with “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” April 30 and May 1 at 7:30 PM and May 2 at 3 PM.

AND FOR THE KIDS….
  BPA has a line up sure to please our younger audience members!  PJ & Play, sponsored by The Kinghorn Insurance of Beaufort, LOWCOUNTRY National Bank, is back with three delightful shows for the 2009-2010 Season! This is a theatre series for children three to twelve years of age.  On Friday, October 9 at 7:00PM,  Happily Ever After, the beloved story of Cinderella, will be on stage at the PAC. Next up on Friday, February 12 at 7:00PM is the delightful tale Are You My Mother. The third in the series is Charlotte’s Web and will be presented on Friday, April 9 at 7:00PM.   Please feel free to bring your child or children in pajamas, all ready for bed!  We hope this event will serve as their bedtime story–only with live characters and lots of entertainment.  All participants will receive a cookie and a glass of milk.  There must be at least one (1) adult accompanying every four (4) children.   Also for our younger patrons, The Beaufort Children’s Theatre will present Disney’s Alice in Wonderland on Saturday, October 24 at 7 PM and Sunday, October 25 at 3 PM. Auditions for ages 6-18 will be held on August 24 and 25 at 6 PM at USCB.  Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” will be the Children’s Theatre Spring performance.
