Hilton Head Christian Academy’s (HHCA) award-winning theater department will present the musical Little Women November 29 – December 2, 2023, at the school’s Performing Arts Center in Bluffton.
Based on the life of Author Louisa May Alcott, Little Women tells the beloved story of the adventures of the four March sisters. The Civil War is in full swing, and the March sisters — Meg, the oldest and a romantic, the spirited and tomboyish Jo, sweet and loving Beth, and irascible, playful Amy – live in Concord, Massachusetts with their Marmee while their father is on the battlefield. Filled with adventure (both lived and imagined), heartbreak, and a deep sense of hope, the struggle of these “little women” to find their own voices mirrors the growing pains of a young America. With buoyant, joyful melodies, memorable characters, and a big-hearted message, Little Women reminds us that “sometimes when you dream, your dreams come true.”
This glorious musical has been produced nationally, internationally and praised by critics. Its timeless, captivating story is brought to life with a powerful score that soars with the sounds of personal discovery, heartache and hope. With a book by Allan Knee, lyrics by Mindi Dickstein and music by Jason Howland, audiences are guaranteed a night filled with laughter, tears and a lifting of the spirit.
Directed by HHCA Theater Director Michelle McElroy Cox, the cast is led by senior Millie Gilbreath (Jo) and features eleven of HHCA’s most talented performers.
Shows are November 29, 30 and December 2 at 7:00 pm at HHCA’s Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $12 for students and seniors, $18 for adults, and can be purchased at hhca.org.
