conroy Anchorage 2The nonprofit Pat Conroy Literary Center and historic Anchorage 1770 Inn are hosting another exclusive writers retreat weekend in the heart of beautiful Beaufort by the sea—to be held on September 6-8. Participating writers will immerse themselves in a collaborative experience designed to inspire and enlighten. 

During this Southern Living Inspired Event, the distinguished faculty of award-winning writers and publishing professionals will share their insights and experiences in the same generous mentoring spirit as the late Pat Conroy. In the retreat’s intimate setting at the award-winning seaside inn, writers will get to know one another as well as the instructors over a span of three days and two nights of empowering workshops, discussions, writing prompts, readings, critiques, and social gatherings.

The all-star retreat faculty members are:novelists Kimberly Brock (2013 Georgia Author of conroy Carla Damron 2the Year for her debut novel The River Witch), Carla Damron (author of The Stone Necklace, Columbia’s 2016 One Book, One Community selection), and Reavis Z. Wortham (winner of the 2019 Spur Award of the Western Writers of America for his novel Hawke’s War); memoirist Harrison Scott Key (winner of the Thurber Prize for American Humor for his debut book The World’s Largest Man); Charleston Post and Courierbook page editor Adam Parker; and literary agents Jeff Kleinman (whose authors include Garth Stein, Jacqueline Mitchard, and Elizabeth Letts)and Marly Rusoff (whose authors include Pat Conroy, Cassandra King Conroy, and Patti Callahan Henry). The full retreat schedule, including faculty biographies, is available online at www.patconroyliterarycenter.org under the Events tab or on the Facebook pages of the Conroy Center and the Anchorage 1770 Inn.
