Zach Grether’s artistic talent arrived as a gift. A birthday gift. In the four years since receiving his first DSLR camera for his birthday in 2011, he was able to transform his intrigue with the night sky and his Software/Aerospace Engineering career into an amazing body of work with a focus on the night landscape. His award-winning photos have been published by Oprah Winfrey Network, Sun Magazine, and locally, by Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra.
An unforgettable experience under the big skies of Montana has been his inspiration. Realizing that most Americans live in “light-polluted” areas and that it is impossible to even see the Milky Way in more than two-thirds of our country, Zach began photographing the skies around his home in Arizona. Photographs entitled “A Canyon Lake Morning” and “Bridging Earth and Sky” exhibit his mostly self-taught techniques, which have recently been refined with training under leading industry veterans in landscape, fine art and sports photography.
Zach is intent on sharing his experience of standing under skies lit only by billions of stars. Now, after a handful of international awards, industry recognition, and a growing fan base, Zach has relocated to South Carolina where he hopes to share the beauty of the night sky with the people of the Lowcountry.
