New Pastels by Sherry Fooshee will be on exhibit at Charles Street Gallery, Beaufort February 1-22. The public is invited to an opening reception with the artist on Friday, February 1st, 5:30 to 9pm
The Charles Street Gallery presents new work by artist Sherry Fooshee, inspired by Spring Island and the vast skies of the Lowcountry. Pastels allow Fooshee to capture that tangible lightness that is such a significant part of the coastal atmosphere.
“Poems and ideas can also be the inspiration for a new painting,” Fooshee said, “but my best work comes when I let go of thinking and shift to imaginative play, as the painting begins to take me into a place of “not-knowing”. That’s also a part of the process of creating.”
Charles Street Gallery is an established source for Lowcountry and international art, presented within a carefully renovated house surrounded by a lush garden in Beaufort’s historic district. 914 Charles Street, 843-521-9054, www.thecharlesstreetgallery.com
