The Sosoba-tedjordanciety of Bluffton Artists (SoBA) is currently presenting its Annual Judged Show, now through March 29.  An opening reception will be held on Sunday,  February  21, 2010 from 3 -5 PM at the SoBA gallery, 48 Boundary Street, Old Town Bluffton.

“The quality of last year’s show was outstanding, based upon comments from the over 1,000 viewers who attended, and this year’s show promises to be even better,” states President David Dickson.  Last year visitors to the gallery were introduced to the medium of encaustic (melted bees wax) with Diane Dean’s “Best of Show” winner “Savannah Cargo” and “First Place” winner Ted Jordan’s drawing, “Princetta’s Prayer,” a simple, yet complex drawing depicting innocence and hope.  Visitors to the exhibit this year will have an opportunity to win an original encaustic entitled “Landscape” by Diane Dean and a giclee reproduction of Ted Jordan’s drawing “Mourning in Red.”

The show features 110 new works from Bluffton, Hilton Head, Beaufort, and Sun City artists and photographers. Awards will presented for the coveted “Best in Show” plus a number of order categories at the event.  “We’re excited about this year’s judge, Linda Warner Constantino,” says Joy Hermann, Chair of this year’s event.  “Linda is a long-time area artist and a professor of illustration at SCAD.”
