Remembering-PassThePathWith a mission to tell the Gullah-Geechee story visually, Patricia Sabree will exhibit Remembering While Evolving at Art League Gallery June 28-July 23, 2016. An opening reception will be held on Wednesday, June 29th from 5-7 pm.

Sabree’s name fittingly means “one who perseveres until the job is done.” She grew up working on a farm in Lake City, SC, which led to her craving a better way of life through her remembering-LoveGrowseducation, obtaining a Bachelor’s of Arts degree from South Carolina State University and a Master’s of Education from Southern Wesleyan, Central, South Carolina.

Reviewing Sabree’s work, you will find reminiscences of the Deep South – subjects like fishing off a river bank, working in the fields or neighbors gathered in conversation while listening to the blues. Sabree’s goal is “to preserve the Gullah-Geechee culture, to pay homage to the ancestors who paved the way for us to have a better life and to inform and educate the world of the richness of the culture.”
