St. Helena Island resident Chris Kirk will be the featured artist.
The Colleton Museum’s “Featured Artist” show in April will exhibit the Lowcountry photography of Chris Kirk. Chris’ photographic works include landscapes, nature, coastal, and wildlife scenes.
This exhibit will open on Tuesday, April 2nd with a cocktail reception at the Colleton Museum from 5pm-7pm. The public is invited to attend this free event. The exhibit will run through Saturday, April 27th.
Chris Kirk is a newly retired CPA living on St. Helena Island near Beaufort. He exercises the right side of his brain by combining his enthusiastic hobby of photography with his avid passion for the Lowcountry, to capture the abundant beauty of its landscape, waterways and wildlife. His photographs are presented in both canvas and high-quality photo paper formats with a total of over 75 pieces displayed in this show and available for sale. Chris’ ecology-oriented photography has been featured in many local, regional, and statewide publications over the past 7 years. He has also been invited to display his work in a number of curated and juried art shows in Beaufort County. In 2011 Chris received the distinction of winning the “Photography-Best in Show” award at a city-wide art show in Beaufort.
The Colleton Museum is located at 506 E. Washington Street in the heart of downtown Walterboro, SC – known as the “Front Porch of the Lowcountry”. Admission is free. The Museum showcases exhibits representing the history and culture of Colleton County, and is home to thousands of artifacts from Colleton County and South Carolina. These objects are on display in their permanent exhibits, offering a “walk through time.” In addition to these exhibits the Museum offers regularly changing featured art exhibits, special exhibits, and educational programs throughout the year.
Chris Kirk’s Lowcountry photography exhibit may be viewed throughout the month of April during the Museum’s regular operating hours: Tuesday, noon – 6 pm; Wed – Fri, 10 am – 5 pm; and Saturday, 10 am – 2 pm.
