Julia Anderson’s art will be on exhibit at the Beaufort Arts Council, 918 Port Republic Street, May 6th – June 1st. The opening reception will be Friday, May 6th from 6 – 7:30 pm.
Her work embodies an array of different mediums and canvases, but her inspiration remains the same – her love of the Lowcountry.
“I look at my art as a series of different tapestries, reflecting how I am inspired by my surroundings: the flight of a bird; the gentle movement of Spanish moss; the gravity and subtlety of the spartina; or the grandeur of our waterways and all that they harbor. “
Her paintings are meditations on the Lowcountry, capturing the essence of one moment in time.
There will also be a display of twelve pieces of her furniture. The design and painting of her furniture is more often dictated by the piece itself, whether it is the shape or perhaps even the history. Creating a three dimensional painting when it’s not expected.
“I love all the genres of work that I am fortunate enough to do. Having such varied work keeps me inspired, rendering every project fresh and exciting. Each creation if it turns out how I wanted, can speak for itself and whatever it says to the viewer. Each person takes something a little different from the same piece of work or project, and I am happy with that.”
