Annually, all net proceeds from the All Saints Garden Tour are donated to charities in Beaufort and Jasper Counties that focus on hunger, homelessness, literacy or aging with budgets of less than $650,000.
Budgets are considered because the board wants their donations to make an impact. The charities are identified in the fall prior to the Tour and the grant is awarded the following year after the tour is completed. All grant recipients agree to support the Garden Tour by serving as greeters or parking directors at the gardens, contributors to the Bake Sale, etc. During the past 32 years, well over $500,000 has been awarded to local charities.
The 2019 grant recipients included Jasper Backpack Buddies (Antioch Educational Center), Backpack Buddies of Bluffton, Backpack Buddies of Hilton Head Island, St. Stephen’s UMC Outreach Food Bank, Hilton Head Safe Harbour, and The Literacy Center. This fall these charities each received their awards of $5,675 from the 2019 Garden Tour.
At their November meeting, the Vestry of All Saints Episcopal Church approved the recommendation of the All Saints Garden Tour Board to award a 2020 Grant to The Hunger Coalition of the Lowcountry (Backpack Buddies of Hilton Head), The Antioch Educational Center (Jasper Co. Backpack Buddies), St. Stephens UMC Outreach Foodbank, Family Promise, Crossroads Community Support Services (BackPack Buddies of Bluffton), and Safe Harbour. These organizations serve residents in Beaufort and Jasper Counties.
