We’ve all had fever dreams. You wake up with sweaty sheets all twisted up and Keith Sweat is no where to be found, if you know what I mean. If you don’t, read in between the lines. I need you to keep up. You need you to keep up…

My query is: What if said fever dreams last longer than long-haul COVID? What if they’re the result of a grievous injury to the body, mind, or Spirit? If these half-waking dreams leave you more wrung out than you can explain due to OD levels of Nyquil, you’re not alone. What if these dreams were fun? Doubtful, but what if they seemed pleasurable? Even worse when you pick at these seams, unraveling happens unevenly and in an untimely fashion.

For the purpose of this column, it matters not whether the wound was self-inflicted, fantasy, or otherwise. We spend far too much time in analysis…

What if said dreams present a pathway forward to wholeness? They could, if one allows it. Maybe I should say they should…

What if we’re never NOT whole?

Okay, simmer down, Sutty! We get the point. If ifs were a fifth, we’d all be drunk.

Do you get the point? I’m not sure that I do, but okay. It’s all about walking one another home…

The reason I bring up the wholeness aspect is because of a fallacy in the holistic health space. Easy killer, I’m not casting any stones. I bought into it too.

If we go with the notion that we’re all appendages of God, Source, Omega, Buddhaetcetera, then how could we never not be whole?

Hmmm…

Exactly!

All these chakra alignments and so forth are just bulls***?

No, not really. When you know what you know and feel what you feel, that can’t be discounted.

Then what?

I posit it’s the notion that you’ve got to align chakras, check the moon, check in with ancestors, clear past lives, have the proper stone in your pocket, sage, close negative portals, open positive portals, etcetera, before we can proceed—before we can have success. That’s the fever dream, if you will.

Oh, like if you step on a crack, you break your mother’s back?

Yes, exactly. Do you feel the superstition?

“Enjoy it more,” I heard from a passed relative recently. Speaking of past ancestors…Enjoy what? I suppose that’s up to you, but I took it to mean, even the trials.

Life is a cocktail of fulfillment, disappointment, regret, anticipation, elation, disillusionment, and everything in between, all day every day, and twice on Sundays.

We’re still not convinced that you hear what you hear, Sutty.

Are we still on that? Does the Source of said messages matter? Perhaps, but if there’s truth and healing, then I say it doesn’t. “Trust your feelings, Luke.”

Anyway, fair enough. What I hear is for me, it’s only that I have an ability to articulateand a platform to share it on. My hope, as always, is that by sharing my insights, I help others realize their own insights.

In my process of lending credence to something of the esoteric nature, I find it enlightening and enforcing that the aforementioned relative was not my favorite at all. He’s not the first from that dysfunctional side of the family on that side of the veil that I’ve had a helpinghand from either. I actually find it more instructive that I didn’t like this uncle, as they’re several other relatives I’d rather hear from. You know, the ones that you hope are waiting for you when you yourself cross the rainbow bridge—the ones you think of often or daily.

What if I did hear from my favorite past loved ones more often? Would I get stuck in the ethers? God knows I’ve had that issue throughout my life to one degree or the next.

All that said, if it makes you feel any better, we can attribute such “insights” to fever dreams. Who’s to say, right? And what difference does it make anyway?

I think what matters is if we ask ourselves if something can exist, but still be part of an undiscovered country, ripe with promise. Before the 1500’s, the term, “believe in” meant to adore something or someone. Hmm, wonder why that was changed. Ponder the difference in the “modernized” version of believe. Why buy the lie?

You wanna go from toeing the line, to making someone’s day before it even gets started. Only in your dreams, right? Really?

Do the bunnies boil down to the missing link of emotional intelligence? EI is as lackingas CS. That’s common sense, isn’t it? Perhaps a better way to put it is when we gain and improve on the underrated sense of when the tail is wagging the dog. Even if this notion sounds aspirational, ASPIRE before you expire.

There’s the Havana Syndrome of it all. For those of you that don’t buy into any conspiracy theories, count your lucky stars. For those of you that do, Google this mysterious ailment that is not officially recognized by the medical community.

Fever dreams… Did they really happen, or was it too much codeine? It matters not the answer if it takes you from worrier to warrior.
