Bauble BiddingFor the 9th year in a row, Palmetto Animal League is giving folks a great excuse to shop during their ‘Bid for PAL’ online auction. This highly anticipated event is a unique opportunity to treat yourself and save homeless pets at the same time. All the funds raised benefit PAL’s no kill Adoption Center, located in Okatie’s Riverwalk Business Park.

PAL’s online auction gets underway Friday, April 20 at www.PALauction.org and continues through Monday, April 23. It’s truly a shopper’s paradise, featuring a vast array of items donated by our area’s most popular shops and businesses. There are all sorts of fantastic products and services up for bid, including golf packages, home services, spa treatments, restaurant certificates, home décor and much more. That’s not all. It gets even better!

“Not only will the auction feature our traditional, best-loved items,” explains auction co-chair Nina Bean. “This year we’ve added exceptional items like Duffy Boats, Chevrolet vehicles, inground pools, original paintings, real estate, and exciting trips to destinations like Tanzania and to Kenya with a stay in the world-renowned Giraffe Manor!”

It’s a shopping excursion like no other, as all proceeds support PAL’s innovative and compassionate animal rescue programs, saving the lives of hundreds of abandoned, abused and neglected pets every year.

Dogs like Bauble (above), who was rescued by PAL just before he was scheduled to be put down in another county. The Palmetto Animal League staff nursed this sweet-natured 6-year-old boy back to health after his hind legs became paralyzed, likely due to a complication associated with heartworms. Thanks to lots of one-on-one care, Bauble has now regained nearly all the function in his legs and is in physical therapy once-a-week to help him regain strength. Bauble loves other dogs and kids, and he is looking for a foster or a forever adopter to give him the loving home he so longs for.

“In my line of work, I see countless traumatic cases like Bauble’s, and I also bear witness to the very best humanity has to offer,” says PAL President Amy Campanini. “Within the four walls of PAL’s Adoption Center, I have experienced the kind of wholehearted, unconditional love that you usually only read about in books. Our compassionate team makes a renewed promise every day. We never give up on a pet.”
