Tombee Plantation on St. Helena Island will be the site of Historic Beaufort Foundation’s eighth annual oyster roast and membership campaign February 1st. The grounds of the ca. 1810 plantation and the plantation house, currently under restoration, will be open to ticket holders.
Tickets will not be sold at the door. Reservations must be made for a 5:30 p.m. serving or a 7:30 p.m. serving of oysters, chicken gumbo, corn bread, beverages and dessert. However, the grounds and the bonfires will be open to guests throughout the evening. The roast will be catered by Reeves Outdoor Catering of Bluffton. Beek Webb and the Lowcountry Ramblers will provide music.
Tickets are $30 per person and must be purchased by January 25th to receive tickets and a map by mail, and by January 29th for pick-up at Foundation headquarters at the George Parsons Elliott House, 1001 Bay Street. For the price of a ticket, first-time participants gain a one-year complimentary membership in the preservation organization.
