Featuring 200 nativity scenes from around the world and a special collection from the women of St. Peter’s Catholic Church
For the 14th year, historic First Presbyterian Church of Beaufort will present a free weekend-long Annual Nativity Celebration on December 5-7 – featuring more than 200 nativity scenes from around the world.
“Each year we bring new nativities to display alongside many of the annual favorites,” said Donna Sheetz, First Presbyterian’s Volunteer Nativity Event Coordinator. “This year is so special as we will be featuring a special collection from the women of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.”
First Presbyterian Church of Beaufort is preparing for nearly 1,000 visitors to come through for this community-wide Advent tradition. Past attendees share not only how much they are moved by the experience, but that the display brings back sweet memories from their childhood, travels, and time with family. Many times people are inspired to share their own treasured pieces for the next year’s event. Collectors always have a story to share – some are grand accounts of travel, gifts or inheritance, while others found their treasures in a local thrift store. The nativities range from lovely home crafted treasures to exquisite porcelain figures.
“Everyone is welcome, and it is a wonderful event to experience with your spouse, friends or a grandchild. This weekend-long display is a great way to slow down, reflect, learn about other cultures, and begin the anticipating and joyful season of Christmas,” said Sheetz.
The Nativity Celebration is located in downtown Beaufort in First Presbyterian Church of Beaufort’s Fellowship Hall located at 1201 North Street, Beaufort, SC 29902. This event is free to the public, has easy parking and is handicap accessible. The display will be open Friday, December 5 and Saturday, December 6 from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 7 from 12:00-3:00 p.m. All ages are welcome.
