Historically Speaking: The Battle of Beaufort, 1779

1 p.m., Thursday, February 1 at the Hilton Head Branch Library. Join us for a special local history presentation with Col. Neil Baxley on the Beaufort District’s place in the American Revolution. The BCL’s Beaufort District Collection, in conjunction with the Beaufort County History Society present the Historically Speaking Series: “Battle of Beaufort, 1779.” Though the British Winter Campaign, 1778-1779 in the Palmetto State had mostly gone in Britain’s favor, South Carolina’s first land-based engagement between professional British, militia, and Continental forces changed that – and it was here in Beaufort County! Camellias: Their History and Care
