July 13, 6:00-8:00 p.m.: Journaling Your Way to Wellness with Sandra E. Johnson, $45, limited to 15 participants. Led by award-winning author Sandra E. Johnson, this workshop will explore how therapeutic journaling can be an effective way to reduce anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues while strengthening the immune system, brain functioning, and overall wellness. Johnson will lead an online, interactive workshop about this easy yet powerful way to improve the quality of your life using sample exercises from her book the Mind-Body Peace Journal: 366 Mindful Prompts for Serenity & Clarity.

Book reviewer, author interviewer, and founder of the Write Review, Annie McDonnell will discuss the value of reader-generated book reviews and opportunities for readers to support and engage with favorite writers through reviews and online book forums. This program will also be live-streamed on the Conroy Center’s Facebook page.

July 29, 6:00-8:00 p.m.: Tools for Publication: To Know and to Make Known with Amber Wheeler Bacon, $45, limited to 15 participants. Led by award-winning writer and editor Amber Wheeler Bacon, this interactive class take a look at how best to identify and make use of opportunities for publication—whether you’re writing individual poems, stories, essays or whole books. In addition, the workshop will discuss formatting the best query letters, writing a synopsis, and submissions practices of literary magazines, independent book publishers, and more.

Book reviewer, author interviewer, and founder of the Write Review, Annie McDonnell will present an overview of best practices among online book clubs as well as opportunities for readers to participate in clubs or to start their own, with examples of how writers can participate in and benefit from these clubs as well. This program will also be live-streamed on the Conroy Center’s Facebook page.
