The Hilton Head Choral Society invites the community to usher in the season with “Celebrate the Holidays” on Friday, December 5 at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 540 William Hilton Parkway, Hilton Head Island. This festive annual concert brings together 70 choral voices and a full orchestra for an evening filled with cherished holiday traditions and contemporary favorites.
As the Choral Society continues the celebration of their 50th anniversary season, this year’s program will feature selections from Handel’s Messiah – a nod to the Choral Society’s rich musical legacy since its founding in 1975. The concert will also include timeless favorites such as Joy to the World, O Little Town of Bethlehem, O Holy Night, and even a touch of holiday whimsy with the theme from the movie Elf.
A particularly meaningful moment in the evening will be a moving rendition of Silent Night, arranged by former HHCS Artistic Director John Carter, honoring the Choral Society’s history as the longest running performing arts group on Hilton Head.
“The holidays are a time for connection, reflection, and joy,” said Dr. Dustin C. Ousley, Artistic Director of the Hilton Head Choral Society. “This concert is designed to bring our community together through the timeless power of music.”
‘TIS THE SEASON FOR GIVING
This year, the Choral Society continues their tradition of giving back during the holiday season as they team up with the United Way of the Lowcountry as they partner with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, and area nonprofits to give Beaufort & Jasper County children and families the holiday season they deserve through gifts and donations. We invite all concertgoers to bring a NEW, unwrapped musical toy to the concert to help bring the joy of Christmas to children and families in our community through Operation Holiday Heroes.
Join the Hilton Head Choral Society for an evening that promises to uplift your spirit and fill your heart with the magic of the season. The concert is generously sponsored by CoastalStates Bank.
