It’s time, once again, for everybody’s favorite Beaufort book series. Sponsored by Friends of the Beaufort Library, Books Sandwiched in will happy from Noon to 1pm on Mondays, January 26 through March 2, at USCB Center for the Arts auditorium, 805 Carteret Street, Beaufort.

Join us each Monday for an engaging presentation, lively discussion, and Q&A on the week’s featured book, led by a local expert or notable community leader. Free and open to the public thanks to generous community sponsorships. Free parking. Light refreshments are served and raffle items are available for bidding each week.

Our 39th season will showcase the following speakers and their selected books:

  • Jan 26: “Leading Change” by John P. Kotter. Presented by Dr. Frank Rodriguez, Superintendent, Beaufort County School District.
  • Feb 2: “The (Honest) Truth about Dishonesty – How We Lie to Everyone Especially Ourselves” by Dan Ariely. Presented by CAPT Tracy R. Isaac, Commanding Officer, Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command, Beaufort; Commanding Officer, Naval Support Facility Beaufort; Director, Naval Hospital Beaufort.
  • Feb 9: “Shrimp Tales: Small Bites of History” by Beverly Bowers Jennings. The book’s author will join Captain Craig Reaves, commercial shrimper and owner of CJ Seafood, to discuss the featured title and its related topics. Book signings will follow the session.
  • Feb 16: “The Empty Space” by Peter Brook. Presented by Libby Ricardo, MFA, University of South Carolina at Beaufort Associate Professor of Theater and Interdisciplinary Studies; Program Coordinator for Interdisciplinary Studies.
  • Feb 23: “A Sand County Almanac” by Aldo Leopold. Presented by Dr. Andrew Bridges, President and CEO, NEMOURS Wildlife Foundation.
  • Mar 2: “Me & Patsy Kickin’ Up Dust: My Friendship with Patsy Cline” by Loretta Lynn. Presented by Amanda Brewer Dickman, Director, Beaufort County Library.
