Beaufort Art Association is proud to present “Gates, Gardens, and Grace”, a new exhibition by artist Michael B. Pearson, running from October 18 through November 27. The public is invited to meet the artist at an opening reception on Friday, October 22, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the historic Elliot House.
Michael holds a degree in Fashion Illustration from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and has an extensive background in commercial art, advertising, and children’s book illustration. She has been a full time painter for over 30 years and has had over 40 solo shows. While being primarily a watercolor artist, she also works in acrylic, pen and ink and is well known for exquisite wall murals. After living, traveling, and painting all around the world with her career military husband Bob, she has settled in the Lowcountry, where her painting has become dedicated to the beauty of the area’s scenery, flowers and people. Her varied experience includes gallery ownership, workshop instructor and judge for both watercolor and mixed media shows. Michael is a member of the National League of American Pen Women, past Regional Director for the South Carolina Watermedia Society, former President and Life Member of both The Hawaii and Georgia Watercolor Societies and served the last two years as president of Beaufort Art Association. She is represented by the Beaufort Art Association and Bay Street Galleries.
“I believe the painting of any and all subjects is the same task. It is a case of learning ‘to see’ and in watercolor ‘practice.’ The more we paint the more we know. Painting is truly the way I discover the world.”
