biennale-joyce-nagel-morningBiennale, the longest running Nationally Juried Exhibition in our area, opens May 6th at Art League of Hilton Head’s Gallery. This event, now in its twenty-fourth edition, invites artists from all over the country to compete for cash prizes and the opportunity to show their work on Hilton Head Island during the month of May.

Approximately one hundred pieces will be selected from over five hundred entries, based on originality of concept, composition and execution. Truly the best work from around the country will be on display, all of it available for purchase.

            This year’s judge, Carrie Burns Brown, NWS, from Greenville, SC, is a noted biennale-anne-silber-change-of-seasoninstructor and water-media artist, as well as national juror. She has over 40 years of teaching experience in the arts, as well as a productive career as an artist.  She will be on hand to present the awards at a reception on Friday evening, May 8th as well as lead a discussion on her selection process during the Critic’s Coffee on Saturday morning in the gallery, May 9th.

            Ms. Burns Brown will also hold a three day workshop, Tuesday, May 5 through Thursday, May 7th at Art League Academy, located on Cordillo Parkway. Contact Academy Administrator for registration details: academy@artleaguehhi.org

            The Exhibition runs from May 6 – May 30, biennale-ann-watcher-channeling-edith-whartonMonday- Saturday from 10am-4pm. The Awards Reception is Friday, May 8, 2015 from 5-7pm – Free and open to the Public.
