The Camera Club of Hilton Head Island is proud to announce the 3 winners of the Kurtzberg Awards with Hilton Head Island High School for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 2 Honorable Mention cash awards.
Over 48 students had entries in the 2018 Kurtzberg Competition, the students submitted photos in color or black/white.
The Winners are:
1st place, $200 prize- Abby Gross for “Life”
2nd place, $150 prize- Sophie Avent for “Cold Shoulder”
3rd place, $100 prize- Abby Gross for “Vintage”
Honorable Mention, $50 prize- Kelly Medina for “Melancholy”
Honorable Mention, $50 prize- Emma Lynch for “Madison”
Kendra Natter, Chairman of the Kurtzberg Award committee for the Camera Club of Hilton Head Island stated, “We were impressed with the outstanding quality of the images submitted by these young photographers. It’s our pleasure for the Camera Club to support these students through the annual Kurtzberg Awards.” Dr. Larry Kurtzberg was the first president and founding member of the Camera Club of Hilton Head Island. After Dr. Kurtzberg’s death, the Kurtzberg Memorial Award was established in 1998, in his honor.
The students received their awards on April 24, at the meeting of the Club. All winners are students of photography teacher Patty Scholkopf-Lewis.
The winning photos are framed by the Camera Club of Hilton Head and hung at Osher Life Long Learning Institute on 2 Mathews Drive HHI, SC.
Camera Club meetings are held at 7 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of each month, September through June, at Osher Life Long Learning Institute, 2 Mathews Drive.
