The Beaufort Kaleidoscope Film, Food and Fine Art is taking place on March 6-9. The event is sponsored by Habersham Land Company and presented by the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce.
The weekend will kick off on Thursday, March 6, at the Beaufort Inn with a VIP Reception for filmmakers and sponsors and included for guests with an all events pass.
Film screenings will be all day Friday and Saturday. The films (short, feature, student, and documentary) will be shown at Lady’s Island Cinemas, courtesy of Paul Trask. Tickets for films will be for sale at the theatre as well as in advance from the chamber.
Thirteen art galleries in historic downtown Beaufort will welcome guests for an Art Walk from 5 pm to 7 pm Friday. Look forward to seeing many local and regional artists in the participating galleries.
An exciting addition to the Beaufort Kaleidoscope this year is an animation workshop on Saturday from 10 am to 12 pm at the Art Council of Beaufort County located at 1111 Boundary Street. Larry Lauria, an award winning animator, director and teacher will lead the workshop. The five animation finalists will be shown at the Arts Council of Beaufort County Performance Center.
An art show hosted by Habersham Land Co. will be Saturday from 12 Noon until 5 pm. Stroll along Habersham’s avenue while enjoying music by a local favorite guitarist Chris Paul and art from alumni of Savannah College of Art & Design.
On Friday, March 7, the Big Chill party will begin at 9 pm in historic downtown Beaufort in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the filming of the Big Chill in Beaufort. Wine from Beaufort’s very own Lowcountry Winery will be served.
If you are a movie buff and love seeing the sites of local filming, please join author Ginnie Kozak in a film site walking tour through historic downtown Beaufort. The tours will run at 11 am and 2 pm on Saturday. The tour will begin at the Beaufort Visitor Center located on the corner of Carteret and Boundary Streets.
The Awards Evening at Habersham of The Beaufort Kaleidoscope Film, Food and Fine Art will happen on Saturday, March 8, beginning at 6 pm. Gourmet food, wine tasting and beverage stations will be open at 6 pm. Beginning at 7 pm, the film, food and art awards will be presented. Immediately following the awards ceremony will be dancing to the music of Gail and Ed from the favorite Charleston group On the Rocks. Look forward to dessert, espresso and coffee to cap off a wonderful evening.
For the musically inclined, the weekend continues on Sunday at 5:30 in the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park in historic downtown Beaufort a free concert will be presented by Heritage of America Rhythm in Blue Jazz Ensemble. The concert is sponsored by the Arts Council of Beaufort County, City of Beaufort and Main Street Beaufort, USA.
