(Fine cheese, not cheesesteaks)

In 1963, the original Chestnut Hill Cheese Shop opened in the historic Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia.

Over the next 56 years, the owners built a thriving business, offering a wide assortment of cheeses, pates, charcuterie and specialty food products, earning a reputation as the “Premier purveyor of cheeses and specialty food products in the Philadelphia Metropolitan area.”

In late 2019, the son of the Founder closed the Chestnut Hill Cheese Shop as the result of health issues.

In early 2021, current Beaufort resident, Ed Reardon, a former Philadelphia resident and longtime customer of the iconic Chestnut Hill Cheese Shop, began collaborating with John Ingersoll, who had been a partner in the original Chestnut Hill Cheese Shop from 1982 – 2012, to bring the extensive selection of quality cheeses and related food products of the “original” Chestnut Hill Cheese shop to the Beaufort area.

Located in the Island Shops complex at 277 Sea Island Parkway on Ladys Island, the Chestnut Hill Cheese Shop has opened its doors and will continue the longstanding tradition of offering its customers a wide selection of fine cheeses, pates, charcuterie and other gourmet products.

In addition to the guidance of John Ingersoll in the development & design of the “new” Chestnut Hill Cheese Shop, the owner has had the benefit of the extensive culinary and operational experience of Chef Timothy Patrick, who will continue to advise on product offerings and store operations.
