How do you get in the holiday spirit in Beaufort? Take an evening to be entertained by the Beaufort High Voices and Troubadours. The energy and the accomplished choral music of the Beaufort High Voices will lift your spirits and make you smile.

Presented by the BHS Vocal/Guitar Department, this year’s Winter Concert will feature Pergolesi’s Magnificat, an uplifting choral work from the Baroque period. Other traditional yuletide favorites, some in jazz arrangement, will follow; including Carol of the Bells, What Child is This, Lo How a Rose E’er Blooming, A Child is Born, and Hanukah Madrigal. The finale will be a gospel-funk arrangement of Beethoven’s Ode to Joy.
Voices is a 50-voiced advanced choral ensemble.  Under the direction of Victor Varner, they have performed at the Heritage Choral Competition in Washington DC, with the Duke Symphony Orchestra, at the First African Baptist Church on Daufuski Island, and at The Savannah Arts Academy.  The Voices are frequently requested by local civic groups and, by audition, consistently well represented in the South Carolina All-State Choir.
The Troubadours, a mostly Freshmen ensemble, is made up of singers and guitar players.  A featured piece is the traditional French carol Patapan.
Winter Concert 2007 will be performed on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, November 28 and 29 at 8:00 PM in the Beaufort High School Auditorium on Lady’s Island.  Tickets are $5 at the door and also available, in advance, at Lowcountry Bicycles and The Rhett House Inn.
