With the last glorious notes of Tchaikovsky’s Marche Slav still ringing through the hall, the Beaufort Symphony Orchestra announces plans for its 25th season! Subscriptions are now available on the BSO’s website at www.beaufortorchestra.org.
World-renowned keyboard artist, Daniel Adni will return for the opening concert in October of 2010. Mr Adni is a resident of London, England and a celebrated performer with orchestras and chamber groups throughout Europe. He appeared with the Beaufort Symphony last year, with the generous support of local music patron, Martha Hoke. Mrs. Hoke will again sponsor Mr. Adni’s performance with the orchestra in October. While preparing for last season’s concerts Maestro Fred Devyatkin and Adni quickly formed both a personal friendship and a professional partnership. “Daniel brings exceptional artistry and technical facility to his performances, and balances his passion for playing with a sense of grace and good humor,” said Devyatkin. A huge fan of Ludwig van Beethoven, Devyatkin loves to program the compositions of the renowned composer. The new season’s opening concert will offer two towering works by Beethoven – Piano Concerto # 3 with Mr. Adni at the keyboard, and Symphony # 7 for orchestra.
Next year also promises to be a bright one for the Beaufort Youth Orchestra, which has seen its number of year-end scholarships double, thanks to generous contributions from the greater Beaufort community over the past season. Several youth will attend music camps this summer, while others will continue with private lessons from area teachers.
