Lynn Parrott will be the featured artist at the Art League Gallery of Hilton Head from January 14 through February 9, 2008. Her show titled, “Lynn Parrott: Recent Paintings,” will open with a reception at the Gallery in Pineland Station on Tuesday, January 15 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Lynn Parrott has a passion for art. She’d always dreamt of a life as an artist. This she has achieved. Art provides the peace, love, hope and joy that make her life complete. As she turns to her paintbrushes, paints and oils, she continues to rediscover herself and add new dimensions to her artwork, inspired by her environment.
The landscape of the Lowcountry and the constant movement of the sea provide the means for exploring a variety of color and textures that provide her with the opportunity to turn these ordinary, singular places in time into everlasting works of art.
As color flows from Lynn’s broad brushes onto the canvas, the subjects take on a cloak of abstraction and come alive with a unique perspective. Lynn loves the beauty of South Carolina’s Lowcountry and the wild abandon of the North Carolina mountains. That love she translates into the dynamic, multi-layered and richly colored paintings that define her spirit and soul. Working in oil pastels, oil bars or oil paints, she creates her own unique views of the area, creating exciting images to be enjoyed by everyone. The magic of her surroundings -the ocean, moons, tides, marshes and mountains- are her inspiration.
As a native South Carolinian, Lynn Parrott grew up with an artist mother who encouraged her studies towards an art degree from Queens University and post graduate work at Clemson University. As a young mother with a growing family Lynn painted at every opportunity on every available surface, relentless in her desire to become a fine artist. Now a fine artist, her work can be seen at Camellia Art Gallery, the Red Piano Gallery, the CSA Building’s Fraser Gallery, the Sea pines Community Center, and the Art League Gallery of Hilton Head. Her work has been acclaimed in numerous one-person and group shows in the area, particularly during the period of 1999-2007. She’s scheduled for a one-person show at the Art League Gallery of Hilton Head in early 2008.
Her studies with renowned artists like Charles Reid, Sheila Parsons, Frank Webb, Morgan Samuels Price, Michael Karas have helped perfect her style.
Surrounded by professional artists on Hilton Head Island (Marilyn and Joe Bowler, Walter Greer, Joe Demers, Coby Whitmore, Elizabeth Grant, Marge Parker, Suanne Plowden and Gerry Bender) she has found her voice.
The dream has become a reality for Lynn Parrott… a dynamic and contemporary artist, defined by her art.
