Locals can support him or bike in virtual ride.
Charles D. Frost, a Beaufort resident, will participate in Ride to End ALZ July 8-10. This three-day, 252-mile bike ride from Simpsonville, SC to Charleston, is a fundraiser to help find a cure for Alzheimer’s. There are almost 400 cyclists participating.
This will be Frost’s fifth year participating in the event. He says, “this is a cause I feel strongly about. This dreadful disease has affected several of my family members and many people I know.”
In past years, temperatures have exceeded 100 degrees during the ride. But, Frost says, “this is a minor sacrifice in order to help find a way to obliterate Alzheimer’s.”
The Ride to End ALZ is sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association. It is well supported with rescue vehicles, frequent rest stops, and good meals.
Frost is seeking donations to support his ride and the cause. To learn more information or to donate, go to http://act.alz.org/goto/Charlie_Frost71
Donations will be accepted through the month of July.
In addition to the in-person ride, you can sign up to be a Virtual Rider. This will let you bike the entire month of July in any location you desire. All you have to do is log your mileage and receive donations. Go to Ride to End ALZ.org to sign up. Frost says “this is the most meaningful thing I do all year. I hope others will join me.”
